Martin Braun-Gruppe strengthens its Startup-Activities through partnership with EIT Food

At the beginning of the year, the Martin Braun Group entered into a partnership with the EU-funded European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) Food. EIT Food is Europe's largest innovation network for food, nutrition and agriculture. The partnership serves to scout start-ups across all investment stages and promotes further networking within the start-up ecosystem.

“We are very much looking forward to working with the Martin Braun Group. Together, we will specifically promote start-ups from the bakery industry and combine innovation, sustainability and profitability through joint pilot projects,” emphasizes Benoit Buntinx, Director of Business Creation at EIT Food.

Martin's Bakehouse, the corporate venture capital (CVC) arm of the Martin Braun Group and part of Geschwister Oetker KG, has been increasingly using this approach as a driver of innovation since 2022. The strategically relevant scouting areas of the targeted venture capital activities support the core business. “With Martin's Bakehouse, we are emphasizing that we support new business models and innovations. With this in mind, we are actively looking for investments, partnerships and joint product developments,” say Sarah Bieler and Andreas Gockeln from the Martin's Bakehouse team.

The focus is on start-ups that specialize in alternative ingredients and products in line with current trends and challenges in the food industry as well as innovative solutions in the food service sector. In addition to the investment in WNWN Food Labs - a food tech company that has developed a special fermentation process for the production of a flavor-identical, cocoa-free and more cost-effective chocolate alternative - further operational cooperations have been entered into in all search categories since the launch.
